I like my sports without politics

 This past month has seen many states passing laws preventing "trans" athletes from competing in sports with the gender opposite to their biological sex.  This past month has also seen several mass shootings.  The one sports show I watch fairly regularly is First Take on ESPN.  As I am watching today they were discussing the Ja Morant situation. For those who may not know this player had an incident in a Denver strip club waving a gun around while "making it rain." He was suspended.  Well last week a video was on Tik Tok with him riding in a car once again flashing a firearm.  Well Steven A Smith went off about politicians sending Christmas cards holding AR-15's, the mass shootings and half of America wanting to reelect Donald Trump, or as he said "People wanting to reelect a guy who incited and insurrection, was impeached twice and is in the pocket of the gun lobby." So here is my question, why the fuck should I care what a sports commentator says about gun laws in America?  I watch the show for sports analysis, not political rants.  But Steven A is notorious for using the sports platform to push his pro-BLM, anti-white and anti-conservative political agenda.  I realize ESPN is most likely Liberal or left leaning as most commentators who lean right are not employed for long.

Now to address his comments.  An American citizen or politician has a Constitutionally granted right to bear arms. So I have no issue with the Christmas cards.  Secondly there was no insurrection incited by Trump on Jan 6 as his tweets from that day and recently released videos have shown.  And finally blaming the mass shooting on the availability of guns is ridiculous.  Banning guns from law abiding citizens does not prevent criminals from getting guns, it simply creates more innocent victims.  Most mass shootings take place in "Gun Free" zones.  And one of the last mass shooters avoided their first target due to it being "too secure." For all the idiots claiming removing the guns removes the violence and we should look at countries which have bans in place I am here to tell you, yes "gun" violence is less of course but the other forms of violence, aka knives, blunt weapons, etc., are way up.  Most of all once citizens give up any Constitutional rights they will never get them back.  

So what is the solution to mass shootings and gun violence?  For me it is a simple solution, freedom to own guns, armed security in schools and other public places, and teaching respect for firearms and life.  If those things were done we would see a drastic reduction in mass shootings and the like. A bad guy is less likely to shoot people if most people are educated and armed.  They are less likely to risk their own lives if they know at shot 1 they will be neutralized.  But back to my original thought, leave my damn sports alone.  Sports are one way people can escape from the political crap they are bombarded with every day.  Let people have a simple pleasure and just enjoy sports.  

Houston, we've had a problem here

The quote originally said by Jack Swigert on Apollo 13 as the astronauts communicated their discovery of the explosion that crippled their spacecraft to mission control, has been used or paraphrased many times over the years with the most common usage being "Houston, We have a problem" made popular by the movie Apollo 13.  In modern times we rarely have such memorable quotes.  

A few weeks ago I moved back to my home city of Englewood, Colorado. One of the first things that has happened was a shooting at East High school.  A student, who had to submit to daily pat downs before entering school brought a gun to school and when it was found during the search he used it to shoot 2 school officials and later himself.  The immediate cry from Liberals and the Democrats in state govt was to push the new "gun control" bills through immediately.  These new bills add no new safety measures to the existing ones and will do nothing to prevent these kinds of events.  The kid had a made at home or "ghost gun."  One of the bills demands people register these types of guns.  But my problem is how are they going to be registered?  They have no serial numbers, no tracing of being produced, nothing to track or register.  The other thing these gun control advocates seem to forget is most violent gun crimes involve guns not attained legally.  Thus, preventing legal citizens from owning firearms does nothing but create more victims.  Most mass shootings take place in gun free zones.  Why would that be the case?  Well the criminals know there is no good guy with a gun to stop them and they can inflict more damage.  If law enforcement enforced the current laws, we had more armed security at more vulnerable locations and criminals were held accountable we could prevent most of these crimes.  The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.

More than the legal means one of the main problems in almost all of these situations is similar to all other issues we have in society, lack of parental guidance.  This includes parents who are disengaged, men not being in the home and being fathers, and lack of teaching kids empathy and compassion for their fellow humans.  The answer to almost all of our societal problems can be solved with three things:

1. Parental involvement

2. Reviving faith in society

3. Teaching kids compassion and empathy

These three things give people every tool they need to survive.  People learn valuable skills and also learn how to care for one another.  It is almost impossible for any human to commit violence against another human if they truly care for humanity and are taught that life matters.  From a young age kids are taught to be selfish and focus only on their pleasure and needs.  How can anyone care for another if they only think of themselves.  For those in poorer communities they are taught they don't matter, why would they care for anyone else if nobody cares about them?  

Teaching faith immediately teaches people life and they matter.  That no matter how alone they feel, they are never alone.  Churches form communities with shared values and beliefs.  Faith teaches humility, love, and service to others.  Why is it that a vast majority of Americans say they have no faith or believe in God?  Because it is taught from early years.  This will lead to nothing but the end of our society as we know it.  

So do I think we have a problem, absolutely.  But it is not what we are being told it is.  We don't have a gun problem in America, we have a compassion problem.  That wont be solved with more laws or taking protection from law abiding citizens, it can only be solved by communities and proper parenting.

21 days later

 

It has been 3 weeks since I posted on here, man how quickly life speeds by when you are busy.  So we are finally at the first 100 days of the new Presidency and things could not be going any better for the progressive movement in our country.  The border is swarmed with illegals to the point of needing to house them at hotels the govt is paying for, riots and violence still grace a lot of major cities,  the lockdowns and covid fear is still coursing through Americans because our media has overhyped it, there has been a huge push to remodel our education system so our kids as young as 5 can learn about gender and sexuality issues and most of all the Pres/VP have been completely useless and avoiding accepting responsibility for any of it.  

So this blog could cover all of that but I want to focus on the gender studies and transsexual issue in this one.  I have a friend in Denver whos teen daughter came out as transgender a few months back.  We spoke briefly about it and my friend seemed to be taking a slow and cautious approach in "allowing" it.  As stories have come out about trans athletes I have voiced my opinion that allowing trans girls to compete with naturally born girls creates an unfair competition as naturally born boys are physiologically stronger.  I covered that in a previous blog so no need to go back into it here.  I also voiced my opinion that allowing children to use hormone blockers before they begin puberty is child abuse in my opinion.  Now science backs my position as these blockers have caused long term infertility issues in people who took them to transition and then wanted to change back after realizing it was a mistake.  In the end my friend went off on me about being a transphobe and telling me to stop pointing out the flaws in their thinking and "logic".  Now I understand supporting your child but how can you possibly deny science and facts? 

How do people not see the danger and harm in promoting young kids taking these things or wanting to change their physical form?  Can these mothers and fathers not see the damage it is going to do to their child??  I support any post puberty (around 25 years of age) adult from making whatever decisions they want with their bodies because they know what it is like to live as a man or woman.  Children don't even know what a boy or girl feels like.  I know every single boy has worn his moms heels or girl has played with GI Joes at some point in our lives, does that make us all Trans?  No it doesn't.  When did it become so not normal to be a boy who plays dress up or a girl who like boy stuff?  It is perfectly ok for you to be a girl who likes more masculine things or a boy who likes more feminine things without thinking you are the opposite gender from your birth.  

I will end this on a few truths nobody else is willing to state so clearly:

1. Men are naturally stronger than women.  The physiology of our bodies is science and this has been proven

2. Most people go through puberty and question their sexuality, that does not mean they are gay, lesbian, trans, or whatever other letters you want to use!

3. The trans movement, if left unchecked and stopped, will destroy womanhood.  It already has made the one thing women can do that men cannot, have babies, something men can do as well.  This movement has single handedly taken away the very thing that women have.

So there you have it.  I am standing up for women and standing against the removal of things that put their very existence at risk.  I saw a quote today and I agree with it.  IT stated "You cannot be a feminist and transsexual activist".  This is true because one is trying to get rid of the other.  Stand up for women and girls, protect those who are being overwhelmed.

Catching up on America

 

    9 days since my last post and a lot has happened in America that I want to cover.  So this post will hit the top events going on and my feelings about them.  As you can see from the picture everything going on will be open to interpretation. 

    So lets start with our fearless leader, President Joe Biden.  In recent videos and press conferences we saw him lose his train of thought and mumble himself off stage, trip going up the stairs to Air Force One twice, and assign what is possibly the least qualified person to tackle the debacle on the border, Kamala Harris.  The one thing I have to say about this is I truly feel sorry for him.  He is obviously not well mentally or physically yet the left and the Democrats are pulling him along like Bernie in the movie Weekend at Bernie's.  It is a disgrace that they seem to want all of us to not believe what we are seeing and that he is still the vigorous politician of his hay day.  That leads to the second big thing that has happened, the crisis going on at the border.

    We have seen interviews with the "refugees" admitting they only came here due to Biden being in the office and if Trump was still there they would not even have tried it.  The media has been kept out of the detention centers until the past few days when the over crowding and conditions have been brought to light.  I saw a video yesterday of smugglers dropping a 4 and 7 year old girl over the 14 ft border fence and left them, miles from the nearest anything.  Our border patrol rescued them and also another baby who was dumped into the Rio Grand by coyotes.  We are seeing border patrol being told to release the illegal immigrants without any sort of court day setup and no way to track these people.  If we do not get this under control I honestly believe we will see the decline of America sped up at an alarming rate.  So Kamala was put in charge of getting it under control to which she has avoided visiting the border or the detention centers and actually laughed at a reporter who asked her if she was going to.  

    We also saw several mass shootings.  Conservatives responded by preaching about self defense and using the 2nd amendment freedoms we have.  Liberals demanded more gun control and taking of weapons.  Same shit different day I guess.  

    Several states have put bans in place preventing Trans-athletes from competing with the group opposite their biological sex, ie trans-women in women's sports.  The left immediately rose in defense of Trans-girls being girls, despite the science that says otherwise.  Here is my take, the science and physiology of men and women is different.  If you look at only the physiology you will see why this idea of allowing men to play women's sports is a bad idea.  I also have previously written a blog about this so all my research is there if you want to read an in depth analysis of my thoughts.

    GA and other states have passed laws protecting voting integrity.  They have things like Voter ID, minimal mail-in voting, and a limit on when polls would close and voting would end, hint it is all the same day ending at 5pm in most cases.  The case that has been presented against voter ID is that poor, marginalized and elderly people would not be able to get one, thus preventing them from voting and ultimately being a racist policy.  The left wing media giants and other companies have begun to push for banning their companies from working in GA and the other states.  In essence punishing the govt and people of GA for trying to make the voting fair and equal.

    The covid vaccine is being shot out in mass everyday and we are still under lockdowns and told to avoid people and wear masks at all times.  For those who don't see the problem here nothing I say will make you realize how stupid this is.  I have gotten my 1st vaccine and I only wear a mask when absolutely needed.  

    Our kids are still being kept at home and taught from a distance but the illegal immigrant kids in San Diego county are being given in person instruction by the same teachers unions who say that is dangerous and have fought against going back to class.  Why are the tax dollars being paid by parents in San Diego being used to educate illegal immigrants in person but it is too dangerous for the children of those parents to go back to class?

    I will sum the past 3 months with this final paragraph.  Trump preached America first and his policies and negotiations with other countries put the interests of America first in ever way.  We became energy independent and saw gas prices stay below $2/gallon a majority of his term in office.  We saw the flow of illegals into the country slow to a trickle (about 850/day).  We saw jobs created and unemployment hit the lowest it has ever been across all demographics.  We saw major corporations return to America to produce their products which was a huge boost and led to the best economy we have ever had.  But last Nov he was "voted" out because he was mean and tweeted things!  Since Biden took office thousands of jobs have been lost, unemployment is rising, illegal immigration has sky rocketed (now almost 6,000/day), big companies are leaving for other countries to avoid the coming tax hikes, violence is on the rise, and policies being proposed will sink us trillions upon trillions into further debt.  3 full months into 2021 and at this rate we will be lucky to make it to December.

The masks are coming off...

 

As we approach the one year anniversary of the 15 day lockdown to slow the spread of Covid some states are taking steps to open up and end mask mandates.  Just this week the Texas and Mississippi Governors ended their state mask mandates and reopened their states 100%!  As the numbers of deaths and infected are falling quicker than the legacy that is Andrew Cuomo some Governors are realizing their states need to reopen and are finally taking the steps necessary to provide their citizens the ability to survive and pay their bills.  I support this decision completely.  It is actions like these that will define which people begin to live again and which ones will become drones living off the govt for a lifetime.  Family finances, mental health, and self sufficiency is what is at risk.  So now is the time to decide are you willing to give up your freedoms for "safety" or are you willing to accept risk to support yourself?

Since the beginning of the pandemic I have been an avid supporter of people deciding for themselves the precautions they are willing to take to avoid getting themselves or their families sick.  Our government officials have made people think they are the end all be all of information and encourage compliance instead of allowing people to educate themselves and make the decisions.  A friend of mine had shared a comic the other day which showed a guy getting the vaccine and then running out and licking all kinds of things like door knobs, animals, etc.  My friend commented "Please keep in mind the vaccine is intended to protect others from you. lol".  I googles what is a vaccine and found the definition is "A vaccine stimulates your immune system to produce antibodies, exactly like it would if you were exposed to the disease.  After getting vaccinated, you develop immunity to that disease, without having to get the disease first."  And I commented this shows that vaccines ONLY protect the person not anyone else.  After taking a day and discussing this post and my comment with my wife, who has a degree in biology, she helped me realize the personal decision to vaccinate is to protect yourself but the benefits to others is you cannot get the virus and thus it does protect others as well.  So I replied to my comment correcting my error.  This is what more people need to do!  Get educated on a topic and then be willing to admit you were wrong if need be.

I wanted to take this time and post to restate my position on Covid, mask mandates, and lockdowns.  First I know Covid is real and exists.  The lockdowns while good in intention have proven to do more harm than good.  The mask mandates are just ridiculous, the "science" has constantly changed and I have been told it is because as scientists learn more they have to correct their recommendations.  While I do understand new evidence can change the recommendations, why not wait until you have a steady conclusion before mandating every American to comply?  In the past month we were told that wearing two or three masks would make you safer, if that is true why have we been unprotected with one mask for the past 12 months?  I think every single citizen and business should have the freedom to work, be open, mask  or no masks, and make the ultimate decision as to what precautions they are willing to take to avoid the risk of contracting Covid.  I firmly believe the federal and local govts have taken this opportunity to snatch power and impose regulations that only benefit big corporations and government entities.  

There is no reason at this point any state should not be following Texas and Mississippi and ending this ridiculous lockdowns and mask mandates.  Next blog I will dive into cancel culture and the woke mobs destruction of everything.

I value......

 In recent weeks I have had several conversations with people about the current political climate being created in America.  Many of my friends believe in the extreme measures being taken by our Governors and politicians to protect the "greater good".  I have been told I am minimalizing the Covid deaths because I point out that the virus has an extremely high survivability rate.  I have been told I don't care about my fellow man because I want businesses and schools open.  I have been called a lot of names and told I should stop being so contrary and see the good of these decisions I feel are not doing anything for the greater good.  The three things that have been pointed out the most are locking down to stop the virus and prevent further deaths, redistribution of wealth so the poor can be in a better position and making radical change to our political structure to provide "safety".

The first greater good I fight against are the draconian lockdowns.  The other side says the lockdowns are needed because of "science" and if you don't agree then you must not believe in science.  I do agree that science is an evolving thing and what the "experts" say today that may contradict what they said last month may indeed be true due to new evidence.  Do I think lockdowns will stop the virus?  NO.  Do I think it will slow the spread to help the hospitals catch up? YES.  But at what social cost do we lock everything down.  There is another science that should be taken into consideration, Psychology and the emotional impact of these lockdowns.  Since we first locked down back in March we have seen huge spikes in drug and alcohol addiction, physical and sexual abuses in the home, homicides, and suicides.  All of those things matter too.  All of those things lead to deaths that are being disregarded by the lock down "scientists".  The fact remains that while Covid is highly contagious, it is not highly deadly.  Unless you are seventy years or older and have pre-existing conditions the likelihood you will get Covid and survive is incredibly high.  Just like all other viruses throughout history we will survive this one.  We will come up with a vaccine that minimizes the effects and death associated with it.  We will go on with our lives.  The only lasting impact will be how we as an economy survive.  We will either end the lockdowns and learn to live with the virus and ultimately maintain our thriving economy or we will turn all authority over to the government lock everything down and cost millions of people businesses and their livelihood and become another third world socialist country for "the greater good".  I for one an terrified more of the later.

Next I get told that the biggest problem we face is Capitalism.  I get told that Capitalism only aids the rich in getting richer.  Here the truth matters as well.  What we consider poor in America other nations would love to have because their people are starving and dying in the streets.  If this pandemic has shown anything it is that the only people making any money are the giant multi-billion dollar businesses like Walmart or Amazon.  These major corporations have made over one TRILLION dollars in profit this year.  That is more than any previous years.  And while these giants are raking in money hand over fist the small and medium business owners are being forced to close their doors and fire all their employees for "The greater good".  These business owners have no way to survive shutting down for more than two months in most cases.  Small and medium businesses run on very thin profit margins and in the end cannot and will not survive long term shut downs.  Why do these people that preach the "greater good" not see that the greatest good is done by letting businesses open and allowing people to take the proper steps in wearing masks, social distancing, and using proper hygiene to ensure people have jobs and can pay their bills.  A friend of mine yesterday said "They are only having to close because the Government did not do enough to help them".  My problem with this statement is the govt needs to get that money from somewhere.  He believes they should raise taxes on major corporations and big business and give the money to these small businesses.  I know for a fact this will cause businesses to take their headquarters and move out of the country costing thousands or millions of jobs. We need to stop thinking the government is there to solve our problems.  So in the end do we give up our freedoms and allow the govt to run our day to day lives or do we fight for our way of life and maintain the freedom and luxuries Capitalism has afforded us?  I for one am not willing to give up my freedoms for the idea it will help the "greater good".

Lastly I have been told we should move to a form of Democratic Socialism like Norway or Canada that way everyone can have access to healthcare, universal basic income, and everyone can prosper.  The problem with that is simple, we are vastly larger than all of the so called democratic socialist countries.  Those types of policies work when the population is small and the govt can pay for all of those things.  The healthcare in Canada and these countries is terrible, that is why they come to the US for most major surgeries and procedures.  The other thing that fails is the freedoms the citizens give up for the illusion of safety.  The governments in these countries tell their people not to worry about anything, the govt will take care of you.  Throughout history we have seen fascism and communism rise from societies built upon these beliefs.  Fascist dictators preach unity and doing what is best for the greater good.  Telling their citizens they need to give up their rights to allow all of them to become better.  They have told individuals that individualism is bad and we should all be "German" or "Italian" or "Russian" first.  In America we reject that idea and preach individual freedom, expressing yourself, and being who ever you want to be.  In a country that has the values I am being told are for the greater good we would lose those freedoms. 

I value all human life, born and unborn.  I value my freedoms and the luxuries I have here in America.  I value my way of life and the ability to go to the store and have the shelves stocked.  I value the ability to go out and spend time with family and friends.  I value the comfort of knowing our military is one of the best in the world.  I value knowing people float on make shift rafts and battle oceans to come to our country.  I value all of the things that America is and stands for.  So if you ask me if I will ever give up all of the things I value for the "greater good" my answer is simple, Hell no.  The same people using the freedoms America provides to protest, riot, argue on Facebook via their new I-Phone, scream at people in restaurants and bars, and do all of the other things to virtue signal to everyone how woke they are will be the first ones arrested by the tyrants they put in charge and give all of their freedoms to.  For those of us willing to stand up and say enough is enough and value all our freedoms and principles, we may be the ones put to death when these tyrants take over but the best thing about that will be the fact we wont be around to see the downfall of our once great society.  Stand up now so we don't have to kneel later.

Tale of two viruses

 

Covid-19 has turned 2020 into a tale of two viruses.  On almost every media outlet we are told the death tolls and fed fear about the infection rate.  But there is another side to this issue and that is what hardly anyone else is talking about, the survivability rate.  We are bombarded daily by the newest death toll, lockdowns from govt officials, told if we don't all wear masks we are trying to kill off the elderly and high risk people, and given numbers which go up and down on an almost hourly basis.  The problem here is very obvious to anyone willing to verify sources and validate claims, NOBODY knows anything for sure!

At the beginning of 2020 Covid-19 reached American shores, or so we were told.  I know some people personally who had symptoms and such long before Jan 2020.  The list of protections included masks, social distancing, hand sanitizer, and proper hygiene.  At first we were told by govt officials and medical experts not to go and buy masks as they were not effective against this strain of virus.  Then a few months later we were told masks were the only way to prevent yourself from getting the virus and they had only told us they were not so the medical front line workers would have access to the masks they needed to protect themselves.  Then about a month or so later other medical experts came out claiming masks could not protect you and the CDC shifted to protecting others as the reason for the masks.  It has gone on like this all year.  The only things that were constant were social distancing and washing your hands.  

As we reached March we saw widespread lockdowns and were told 15 days to slow the spread of Covid to ensure the hospitals did not get overwhelmed.  The period for the lockdown varied by state with some staying locked down for months on end.  These decisions crushed local businesses while giants like Walmart and Amazon made billions.  It should be noted that those giants are also the ones backing lockdowns until a vaccine is available, wonder why.  So did the lockdowns help?  Yes it did slow the spread and allow our hospitals to stock up and prepare for virus better.  As states began opening up we saw a rise in cases as expected.  The hospitals did not get overwhelmed yet some state governors refused to open things back up.  This caused a massive protest against the lockdowns.  When that happened the news told us that all the business owners were putting us all at risk being out in large groups protesting.  Yet when there were large groups protesting police brutality the media  applauded these people and claimed the virus would not be spread there.  I think this is the first virus in history to be so socially conscious.  

So here we are Dec 2020 and I am still seeing people on social media spread fear of a virus that has a survivability rate that exceeds 98%.  Daily they post about the latest death numbers, how it isn't a flu and should be feared, and mock those of us who are looking at this from a statistical and real perspective.  They say that looking at it that way is discounting those who have died or will die from this illness.  As we saw from Thanksgiving a few days ago people are tired of not being around family and friends.  People are sick and tired of isolation.  People just want to get on with our lives.  I have yet to hear anyone who looks at the actual statistics say that masks, social distancing and protecting those most vulnerable should not be done and don't make a difference.  

So which of these two viruses is reality and which is not.  Truth is both exist and it is up to every single person to decide their level of comfort and what precautions and risks they are willing to take.  I happen to fall into the camp that knows the virus is not going away.  I understand the large impact these restrictions and lockdowns are having on communities all over the US.  I have had family members get the virus, be hospitalized, and make it through even though they were in multiple high risk categories.  I know people who have lost loved ones are impacted but also know that other factors are causing loss of life as well.  Alcoholism, domestic violence, suicide and homicides are all on the rise.  As people lose their business, jobs, income, homes, and marriages who is going to protect them?  The most honest answer for all of this is simple; Wear a mask, social distance as much as possible, was your damn hands, avoid being around people if you feel sick, and most of all stop being afraid.  This virus will be with us forever and we need to look it in the face and say we will not live in fear.  Our govt will not stop us from living our lives.  Businesses need to stand up and be willing to open despite the risks.  Only if we unite against tyrannical leaders unjust policies can we ever see some form of normality again.

Thomas Jefferson: Anti-Slavery Founding Father

 

    When I was in school I hated learning about history.  I found it boring and not needed in our society at the time.  As I have grown older I have stood and fought for our founding fathers with an understanding they were not perfect but were intent on creating a country that was close to perfect.  Recently we have seen our founding fathers labeled as racists.  I was watching an interview this morning with Glenn Beck.  He had all kinds of amazing documents that Blaze TV has purchased and is compiling into an archive of historical documents for use in research and such.  One of the documents he showed during this interview really stood out and caught my attention, it was an early draft of the Declaration of Independence.  In the 4 page document there are a few things that I was never taught because the Declaration as I know it did not contain them.  In it Thomas Jefferson has an entire paragraph about slavery.  Here is what the paragraph states:

"He has waged cruel war against human nature itself, violating its most sacred rights of life and liberty in the persons of a distant people who never offended him, captivating & carrying them into slavery in another hemisphere or to incur miserable death in their transportation thither.  This piratical warfare, the opprobrium of infidel powers, is the warfare of the Christian King of Great Britain.  Determined to keep open a market where Men should be bought & sold, he has prostituted his negative for suppressing every legislative attempt to prohibit or restrain this execrable commerce.  And that this assemblage of horrors might want no fact of distinguished die, he is now exciting those very people to rise in arms among us, and to purchase that liberty of which he has deprived them, by murdering the people on whom he has obtruded them: thus paying off former crimes committed again the Liberties of one people, with crimes which he urges them to commit against the lives of another."

So what does all of that mean?  In this paragraph he is talking about the King of England pushing slavery on the colonies in support of the Trans-Atlantic Slave trade.  As you can see he say the king is "violating its most sacred rights of life and liberty in the persons of a distant people who never offended him, captivating & carrying them into slavery in another hemisphere or to incur miserable death in their transportation thither."  This was Thomas Jefferson saying slavery was a war with human nature itself.  He follows it by stating that the king was offering to pay slaves off with their "freedom" if they were willing to take up arms and fight against the colonist insurrection against Him and England.  

So why would I want to bring this up?  It is simple, maybe we as a society have been shown only those things which form a narrative that the educational system wants us to know.  I know my sons have in recent time discussed slavery and how evil our founders were because they supported it.  This original draft disproves all of it!  Out of the 13 colonies only 2 states refused to support that paragraph in the Declaration, Georgia and South Carolina.  The other 11 states agreed with these statements and wanted them to be a part of the document.  For a group of raving racists who hated black people this paragraph certainly does not validate the accusation. 

I had no idea.  But now that I do I have an entirely new perspective on our founding fathers.  I want to see the original documents so I can read an interpret them for myself.  This one single document has opened my mind and given me an entirely new look on history.  I hope some people read this and it makes them desire to learn more for themselves.  For reference here is the website I quoted from: https://www.blackpast.org/african-american-history/declaration-independence-and-debate-over-slavery/

Check all the boxes

    The past few days the Democrats have had their national convention to formally nominate Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to run for President and Vice President.  As I watched the DNC last night I realized very quickly they entire production was put together for one reason, to check all the boxes.  In our lives we often spend way to much time checking the boxes because we are concerned with how we look to others, even if it mean we are not being true to ourselves.  

    At work we ensure the boxes are checked.  We show up on time and on most days early, we see the boss coming and "look busy", we eat lunch at our desks or don't eat at all, and we are willing to stay late or volunteer for things to make a good impression.  So why do we do all of it at work if we were hired for specific things?  We do it to check the box off the list.  At work we are taught to do these things if we want to get ahead.  Many of us have seen less than impressive workers getting promoted and those hard workers consistently getting passed over.  The reason they get the job is simple, they are willing to check the boxes and buddy up with the bosses to make sure the check marks are noticed while you, a hard worker, are busy doing the job and ensuring it is done right.

    When it comes to our faiths we do the same thing.  I was raised Lutheran and watched every week as people passed the collection plate.  This tradition leads to people giving more than they might otherwise because we can't let the Johnsons give more than us.  Your worth in the congregation was tied directly to your participation in the services, plays, and other tenants of the faith.  As I got older I found my way into the LDS faith.  The structure was much better and the tithe system very private and not meant to force more than you can give.  But there were still check boxes that have to be filled in.  Go to church, read the scriptures, have family home evenings, help people move as needed, and be involved as much as possible.  The sad thing with faith is it should be personal between you and God.  Other people should not make you feel unwelcomed if you can't make service every Sunday or be the star pupil in Sunday school.  

    So watching the DNC I began to see the check boxes that they were filling in.  While their actions have shown they are ok with not saying the Pledge of Allegiance, prayer, or unity their words came across hollow.  The check boxes they needed to hit were race, social class, under privileged, and gender.  They had speakers from every category and most of them seemed quite ingenuine.  They pulled out a 13 year old kid with a stutter and exploited him to prove Joe Biden cared.  The whole night was spent calling Trump a bad man and telling us Joe Biden was a great and caring Grandfather.  The problem I had with the whole thing was at the end of the night I still have no idea what his position is on the issues.  They did not lay out any plans for anything of substance.  It was a completely obvious attempt to make the minority groups feel like he cares.  Next week the Republicans will have their national convention and hopefully we see some discussion about actual issues.  Do I think it will happen, probably not.

    When it comes to checking boxes my opinion is this, don't check boxes for anyone but yourself!  If you have a list of things you want to achieve then by all means create a checklist and stick to it.  If you are simply checking boxes to make yourself seem like someone you are not then don't do it.  Don't give in to what other people think.  Be yourself.  If you want to vote for Trump, do it.  If you prefer Biden, do that.  Don't feel that if you don't like Trump then you must vote for Biden, you don't have to!  If you are true to yourself you will find you will never have anything to have regrets about.

Who has responsibiities and who has rights?

   

    As a conservative I often reference our Bill of Rights in my discussions with Liberals.  Often we get into the weeds when discussing things like the 2nd amendment and the right to bear arms is brought up  I often hear "The founding fathers meant muskets and cannons not AR-15's and modern weapons".  To this my response is always "Well then they must have meant the right to free speech was reserved to carrier pigeon and quill pens".  In listening to a podcast by Matt Walsh today he noted that using the Bill of Rights was an ineffective argument.  He played a video clip of Joe Biden discussing the wearing of masks and pointed out that Biden used phrases like "It is our responsibility to care for one another".  He then goes on to explain why that is a much more effective way to justify our rights.  

    As for the 2nd amendment I will say this, it is our responsibility to protect our loved ones.  One of the most effective ways to do this is owning and knowing how to use guns.  It is also my responsibility to select the gun I feel is best suited to provide that protection.  It should not matter if I want a slingshot or an AR-15, it should ultimately be which ever makes me feel the most secure.  It also should be what makes my family feel the most secure.  So crafting this as my responsibility instead of my right leaves little room for argument.  Either you want me to responsibly protect my loved ones or you want them to be vulnerable to being killed.

    Secondly lets look at children and parenting.  In our society we are told of many things not specifically outlined as rights that we are told are indeed rights.  One of these is abortion.  We are told it is a woman's right to be able to abort her unborn children.  Let me counter this by saying I think it is a parents responsibility to protect their children before and after birth.  If you disagree then I am going to assume you are ok with parents killing children.  My only question then becomes at what age are we not allowed to kill our children, their 18th birthday?  That of course opens up a whole new look at the legal system.  The other aspect of parenting is discipline.  I think a parent should be allowed to discipline the way they see fit as long as it does not cross into abuse.  So I would say spanking is ok, but using some form of device to hit your child is not.  Of course people disagree on this and that is ok.

    Lastly I want to point out the right to peacefully assemble.  It might seem self explanatory but it is not.  On every single news channel today we see violent protests, arsons, looting, assaults, and murders all in the name of our right to assemble.  I would like to argue my point by saying it is our responsibility to protect our fellow citizens, protect businesses, and most of all respect our law enforcement and not attack them.  The term peacefully seems to be forgotten in these times and that is where the rights argument wont stick.  It is also our responsibility to express our discontent at our government through voting and peaceful protest. 

    While we are guaranteed rights in the Bill of Rights relying on them to argue points has become a vast carousel that no one ever wins.  We go around and around about what rights we have and what they mean.  I think getting down to our responsibilities instead is a much better way to discuss these issues.  As always lets discuss!
